Kepa Odriozola vuelve a liderar el Consorcio de Aguas Bilbao Bizkaia

BILBAO, 9 Oct.

Kepa Odriozola, the Councilor of Public Works and Services of Bilbao, will once again preside over the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium for the next four years, while the mayora of Barakaldo, Amaia del Campo, will take on the position of vice president of the entity.

The Assembly of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium, held on Monday afternoon at the Euskalduna Bilbao, has reelected Kepa Odriozola Azula as president of the entity for the next four years. He has been leading the organization since September 2018.

The assembly, which includes 97 municipalities in Bizkaia, as well as the URA - Basque Water Agency and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, has also appointed Amaia Del Campo, the mayor of Barakaldo, as vice president.

In his speech to the assembly, Kepa Odriozola expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized the challenges that the region faces in terms of water management in the context of climate change, with increasingly demanding regulations and within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.

"In this third term that I am starting now, I believe it is important to set the objectives for the next four years, which are to continue being a financially solvent entity, with sound accounts, known for its highly skilled professionals, and to have a consistent, realistic, and guaranteeing investment plan that provides environmentally sustainable infrastructure for Bizkaia, progressively seeking environmental neutrality," he stated.

According to the information provided by the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium, the 2023-2027 legislative period will have 112 representatives (both municipal and from the Provincial Council) with voting rights, in addition to URA, which has a voice but no vote. The Directing Committee will have equal participation of women and men.
